Commission Note

About Commercial Commissions

Content commissioned for profit-oriented projects will be considered for commercial purposes. Based on the scope of use, I broadly categorize it into three types:

Non-Commercial Use

  • The commissioned content can only be used privately by the client and may only be posted on non-profit social media accounts.
  • The client cannot utilize the commissioned content for profit-oriented projects.
  • The author is free to publicly share this commissioned content online.

Self-Media Use

  • Self-media typically refers to creators with a YouTube-like profile.
  • Artistic Promotion: In this context, commissioned content is displayed across various online/offline media platforms to attract consumer attention and serve as promotional material. Examples include social media avatars, video cover images, and social media post graphics.
  • Consumer Content: Although commissioned content is not the primary revenue driver, it is included in profit-generating projects. For instance, exclusive perks for members.
  • The author cannot freely publish this work online.

Commercial Product Use

  • Any use of commissioned content within profit-oriented projects falls under commercial product use.
  • The author cannot freely publish this work online.
About Commissions

Pre-Commission Considerations

  1. If you have a clear idea, jot it down to communicate effectively with the artist.
  2. Whenever possible, search online for images that align with your concept. Even if only a small element matches, save it and share it with the artist (preferably high-resolution images).
  3. If you lack a specific idea, discuss it thoroughly with the artist. However, keep in mind that there are limits to revisions, and changing ideas during the artist's process is discouraged.
  4. Identify several artworks by the artist that match your desired style. This helps the artist understand the aesthetic you prefer.
  5. Once you've gathered relevant materials, you can start messaging the artist privately.

Commission Process

  1. When initiating a private commission, provide a brief overview of your requirements. For example: the number of characters, whether a scene needs to be illustrated, and the deadline.
  2. If the artist's schedule permits, they will request more detailed specifications. At this point, share any prepared reference materials with the artist.
  3. After the artist confirms acceptance, they will create a rough sketch to help you visualize the composition.
  4. If you approve the sketch, the formal commission begins. At this stage, the client is required to pay the commission deposit, typically half of the total price.
  5. The artist will seek your feedback during key stages: rough draft, line art, base colors, shading, and final product.

Commission Considerations

  • Note that once the line art is complete, changes to composition, character poses, or clothing are no longer possible.
  • Due to the artist's tight schedule, commissions are ideally completed within one week. Slow client responses may disrupt the artist's workflow. If you cannot reply within a day, communicate this with the artist in advance.
  • If a client remains unresponsive for a week during an ongoing commission, it is considered voluntary withdrawal. Any delays should be communicated to the artist beforehand.
  • Deposits for voluntarily withdrawn commissions are non-refundable.
About Design

Character Design

  • The client needs to provide a complete character concept or reference.
  • If no design exists or if modifications are required, additional fees apply.
  • Character design costs vary based on the content.

Costume Design

  • Clients can provide existing costume images for the artist's direct reference.
  • If partial redesign or a completely new outfit is needed, detailed costume design concepts must be provided, and additional charges may apply.
  • Costume design fees depend on complexity.

When requesting the artist's design work, clients should search for reference images of various costume elements based on their ideas. Images are far more effective than text communication or leaving the artist to interpret your vision.
